Where is the water table?

In Pennsylvania, this is sometimes a tough question to answer. The main problem is that there are a number of types of water tables ranging from seasonal perched water tables or zones within the overburden and soil, localized water tables associated with adjacent streams and wetland complexes, and regional water tables.

This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the factors that influence groundwater, an overview of the regulations related to the water table for oil and gas operations, and a practical application of how to identify the water table.

The five-hour class will cover the following topics:
  • Introduction to Hydrology and Soils - Presented by Tom Walsh and John Buck, Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.
  • Summary of PA Regulatory Requirements - Presented by Jeff Walentosky, Moody & Associates, Inc.
  • Locating the Water Table & Field Applications - Presented by Brian Oram, B.F. Environmental Consultants, Inc.
The fee for this one-day training, which includes lunch and a certificate for Professional Development Hours (PDH) and/or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) is $50 per person for PIOGA members and $75 per person for Non-members.

Deadline to register is February 22, 2016.
